Holiday shopping is in full force and if you’re on the prowl for delicious and unique gift ideas, or just want to treat yourself to something new, I want to introduce you to Jar Sessions by Chef Paul Virant.
Jar Sessions are artisanal farm-to-fork products that celebrate Paul’s love for preservation. He developed an appreciation for canning and pickling at a very young age while growing up on his childhood farm in Missouri. He continues to use this art of preservation in his contemporary Midwest cooking.
As a cookbook author, a James Beard Foundation Nominee for Best Chef: Great Lakes, and the owner of two successful Chicagoland restaurants, Vistro, located in Hinsdale and Vie, a Michelin Star winner located in Western Springs, the launch of this product line was a natural evolution for him.
Earlier this year, I partnered with Paul on the photography for Jar Sessions and one of my favorite parts, besides working with such a creative and down-to-earth chef, was getting to taste the products first hand.
The Sweet Chow Chow is a combination of sweet onions, midwest corn, sweet peppers and smoked paprika. All you really need is a spoon with this one, however, these flavors also enhance recipes for chili, deviled eggs and cheddar corn bread to name a few.
The Pickled Cherry Tomatoes is a combination of garlic cloves, cherry tomatoes and champagne vinegar. Some recipes include pickled tomato mayonnaise and pickled tomato chutney. Or, you could pair it with a fresh, leafy salad. Is your mouth watering yet?
The Smoked Apple Butter is a combination of midwest apples, smoke, beet sugar and lemon juice. This one is really unique because it can pair well with different types of burgers, summer squash, cheeses and even a smoked apple butter old fashioned… Yes, the flavors work with drinks too.
And, just in time for the upcoming holidays, Chef Paul has two new jars coming soon: Blueberry Aigre-Doux and Sweet Pickled Peppers.
Where to Buy:
Each jar is only $12.00 and quite frankly, I think it’s a steal for such creative flavor combinations and the unlimited ways you could take your recipes to a new level.
Cheers and Happy Shopping!
Disclosure: Although I partnered with Paul on the photography for Jar Sessions, this blog post was not sponsored and I will not earn a commission if you decide to purchase the jars. I personally support the Jar Sessions products. I want to thank my readers for supporting the brands that I love.
