The holidays are right around the corner which means things have been extra busy. We’re all trying to get everything checked off the list so we can enjoy a little break. I’m in the midst of a complete portfolio redesign and Mike has been very excited to have some time off from his job. We’re both looking forward to putting our feet up, nibbling something tasty and sipping something relaxing. My drink of choice is typically a glass of wine, but Mike tends to have a more interesting drink selection around this time of year. Lately, he’s been enjoying a Spiked Holiday Nog and I thought this was the perfect time to share his simple recipe with you.
Mike recommends a good bourbon or a dark rum with this drink, but it can easily be enjoyed without alcohol. The rest of the ingredients include ice, cinnamon, freshly grated nutmeg and of course, eggnog. We tend to gravitate towards dairy-free when we can, and luckily there is an almond milk nog that tastes really creamy and delicious.
Spiked Holiday Nog
4 ounces holiday nog of your choice
Note: We used a dairy-free almond milk nog.
1 ounce of dark rum or bourbon
Pinch of cinnamon or cinnamon sticks
Pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
1. Using a tumbler cocktail glass, add ice to your liking.
2. Pour holiday nog, followed by rum or bourbon over ice.
3. Sprinkle with cinnamon (or add a cinnamon stick) and fresh nutmeg.
4. Taste to be sure seasonings are to your liking.
